the story behind the name

Moonbeam Blooms

A native flower, a child’s first word, and a dream slowly tended into being.

Moonbeam Blooms

The Moonbeam flower, also known as Coreopsis verticillata ‘Moonbeam’, is a “nativar” perennial flower that grows in North Carolina. It is perfectly suited for speciality cut flower arrangements with stunning pale lemon-yellow flowers and delicate lacy foliage. I want to help popularize the beauty of native flowers in arrangements, bouquets, and floral art!

Moon was also my child’s first word. I was with him as he said “moon” watching it rise over our garden and towering oak trees in awe. It was at a tender moment when the flower dream was also in its infancy. I hold this moment as part of the legacy, a blessing and naming, for this flower farm to embody a childlike wonder and delight in the gifts of our natural world.
